1. HI, I have a EF 35-105 3.5-4.5 and use it extensively on my 1500D. I have found the quality of build and optics to out match the kit lens to a degree. At maximum aperture the object in center of the lens will be sharp, as you go out to the edges of the frame the image will blur out.

The Canon EF-M 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 IS STM provided surprisingly sharp results. When used wide open at ƒ/3.5, there is some slight corner softness, but the majority of the frame is very sharp I recently bought Sony A7iii with Sony 24-105mm f/4.0 lens, and was testing this with my Canon 7D (First ver) with Kit lens (18-135mm). In my test I found Sony (RAW-UnCompressed) image had issue with resolution (not sure on the correct terminology), basically it is not able to resolve some parallel lines, while the old Canon with Kit lens can 1qflK.
