1. HI, I have a EF 35-105 3.5-4.5 and use it extensively on my 1500D. I have found the quality of build and optics to out match the kit lens to a degree. At maximum aperture the object in center of the lens will be sharp, as you go out to the edges of the frame the image will blur out.
